We have been waiting for this moment to show you our Short Mountain project! Drum roll please…
This video walks you through the project that took us through the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. However, it’s not exactly the kind of terrain that is easy to work with!
Our team was challenged with getting wind turbine components up and over an undeveloped stretch of land. As a team that has faced many projects like this before, we faced it head-on and got the job done to our client’s satisfaction.
Enjoy taking a behind-the-scenes look at our team’s journey through the mountainside with this incredible video. But don’t worry, you can catch most of what we accomplished below.
Between site visits and state-of-the-art LIDAR scans, our team designed different route options that would meet our customer’s requirements and allow us to design an efficient site layout to ensure the project would be economically feasible.
Then, we narrowed down the routes to the best ones that allowed us to:
- Create over 6 miles of access road with truck pull-off areas every 1.5 miles
- Design 19 turbine pad locations along the ridgeline
- Achieve enough turning radius to accommodate a large 60+meter blade
- Meet specific requirements for grading and compaction to the OEM specifications.
With the data we collected, we were able to recommend the most cost-effective route to our customer.
It’s extremely easy for the budget to get out of control on a project like this—and that’s why you need an experienced team who’s not afraid to take it head-on. A team who’s always ready to provide more innovation and less risk.
We welcome to opportunity to work with you and your team on a project like this! For more details, reach out to our team today.
