The Logisticus Group team wrapped quite a noteworthy project for a strategic customer that included two major challenges:
1) Transport of a 350,000 lb, 285 MVA Prolec GE Transformer.
2) Storage of it for several years at our Houston warehouse.
Here are some project highlights and interesting details on our process:
⇢ In just 3 weeks, Logisticus designers and engineers created a custom pad able to support up to 500,000 lbs for multiple years. They also built a containment pit solution for 20,000 gallons of oil. Meanwhile, our execution team planned a 600-mile transport via rail and truck from Monterrey, Mexico to Houston, TX.
⇢ The team loaded and secured the 350,000 lb Prolec GE transformer to an 8-axle depressed railcar to transport it to a rail facility.
⇢ At the rail facility, it was offloaded to a dual-lane trailer. Next we trucked it to our Houston warehouse.
⇢ Last (for now), we transferred the transformer to its custom pad via a jack and slide system.
We’re proud of our team for their innovative solutions, flexibility and agility that allows us to solve complex problems such as this one for our customers. There’s no job too difficult for our in-house experts who plan and provide full turnkey project support on power projects throughout North America.
