Logisticus Group® was engaged to investigate transportation of a newly re-designed Wind Tower to be launched in the North American market. We performed detailed Route Feasibility Assessments in two regions of the US and Canada, working with multiple State DOT’s, Canadian Provinces, Trailer Manufactures, Carriers, and other vested parties to determine which routes, equipment and means of transportation would be most feasible for the new tower design. We delivered a 77-page report detailing the areas of risk, and recommending potential changes to the product design to safely and efficiently transport this new component over the road. The study was so comprehensive that many of DOT’s involved are using it as a baseline when working on similar requests. Additionally, the customer’s engineers are incorporating our recommendations into their upcoming revisions to the tower design.
