WESTERN NEW YORK – JULY-AUGUST 2013
Logisticus Group® operated on a wind turbine project in Western New York assisting our customer with Risk Mitigation and Delivery Coordination of major wind turbine components. Field Operatives (FO’s) were first stationed at a storage facility roughly 60 miles from the site for the purpose of receiving, inspecting and inventorying the major components, which arrived by rail and truck. At this location, our FO’s also assisted the customer with tracking and managing all damaged components, coordinating with the manufacturer to ensure that all repairs were made prior to transit to the project site. Once outbound activities started, Logisticus created and maintained the schedule and issued Bills of Lading on behalf of our customer, controlling outbound flow so that a pre-determined sequential number of components arrived at each turbine site on a daily basis. At that point we also deployed FO’s to the project site, where, in addition to closing out BOL’s, they performed secondary inspections to ensure the components received no additional damage in transit.
On this project, all FO’s utilized the Logisticus Transportation Management System (LTMS) to build a comprehensive inventory and track transit, loading and offloading times as they happened. This provided our customer a real-time view to the handling of all components, and related shipping data.
By using LTMS, we were able provide our customer 100% visibility to all potential demurrage charges, which could then be mitigated on a daily, real-time basis.
